What is a UConn Connects Facilitator?

UCONN Connects is an intervention program designed to help students to be more academically successful. This program was designed by the Department of Student Affairs to help provide students with the skills, guidance and problem-solving techniques they will need in order to be successful here at the University of Connecticut. Faculty, staff and students are partners in the program, trying to assist participants in obtaining academic growth and skill development. As a facilitator, it is recommended that you:

  • Schedule regular meetings with your assigned UCONN Connects student(s). Bi-weekly meetings are recommended.
  • Encourage time management, study skills, goal setting, self-exploration and decision-making skills as a means of both personal and academic success.
  • Maintain communication with the UCONN Connects Coordinators through regular checking of email, written announcements and attending facilitator luncheons throughout the semester.
  • Develop an academic contract with your UCONN Connects student(s).
  • Learn to assess transcripts and survey data in order to assist your UCONN Connects student(s) with academic skills.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with all information given to you.
  • Be a referral source for your UCONN Connects student(s) to University faculty and staff.
  • Promote the social, emotional, and intellectual development of your UCONN Connects student(s).
